Ribs in a Crock Pot Makes for an Easy Dinner

 May 31, 2019

You're a busy mom and your crock pot is your best friend when it comes to dinner, right? Well, maybe your new Insta Pot is your best friend, but bear with me here. Since I only have a crock pot, I'm sharing my easy and guaranteed favorite Ribs in a Crock Pot meal that will definitely become  your family's favorite.

Just imagine. Tomorrow is going to be a busy day. You have school work to finish, groceries to buy, the usual laundry to do. Not only that, you scheduled a late afternoon dental appointment for your son - and he HATES the dentist. By the time you get home, you're all going to be stressed and tired. And hungry.

Oh, right, they want food. Fortunately you've planned ahead and have your baby back pork ribs ready to go in the crock pot before the day gets out of hand. Because you meal plan, you were able to look at your schedule the night before and take the ribs out ahead of time so they're all nice and defrosted.

You pull out your favorite rib rub recipe and go to town on getting your ribs in the crock pot for your later-on-in-the-day hungry family. Mom, meal planning and a great dinner for the win again!

Rib Rub Recipe

If you don't want to use your favorite BBQ sauce but prefer a good dry-rub instead, mix this baby up ahead of time so you're always ready. This recipe is courtesy of the BBQ Pit Boys. You can see more of their great recipes here.

You'll need:

  • 1/4 C paprika
  • 1/8 C black pepper
  • 1 - 2 Tbl garlic powder
  • 1 - 2 Tbl onion powder
  • 1 Tbl or more of Cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 C coarse salt
  • 1/4 C brown sugar

Mix this all together and store it in a glass mason jar. The recipe says it will coat 6 lbs of ribs. I imagine that's a lot of rub on those ribs. As you can see in the video, I did not use that much, so use whatever you think your family will enjoy.
